Get prompt to install Word 2000 when click Word file

I have a Dell computer purchase last December. I have Word 2003 installed.
For some files, double clicking gets the prompt to install Word 2000. I can
only get to this file by going to the Start Menu and clicking on Word 2003
and then to the most recent file. If I go to My Documents and click on this
file, I get the Word 2000 sign up window. This is kind of scary because I also
cannot do a Search. If you can shed any light on that, I'd appreciate hearing
about it.

When I go to Control Panel, Add/Delete Word 2000 SR-1 is listed but not
Word 2003. I assume the latter is in Works, but I'm not sure.
