Getting 0x800ccc0F error

I have a user who connects to our network using a VPN. We have an
Exchange server and an external mail server (linux). When he does a
send/receive he gets an error (0x800ccc0f connection to server
interrupted) receiving mail from the external mail server. When he is
in the office it works fine. I have turned off e-mail virus checking
(Norton) but I still get the error. Any other ideas?

Found the error. IP was configured incorrectly for the vpn connection.
