Getting a "Not Connected" status on my Exchange server - HELP!

Steve Dorsey

Hello

I set up Entourage last week at my new job. Apparently, they are running
Exchange, and so I used the settings in my crappy Outlook app to
auto-configure Entourage. It worked the first time (with a few problems in
the address book), and now I'm up and running with e-mail and calendaring in
Entourage. Yay!

Well, my co-worker saw that I had this working and immediately called IT
to get his running. I heard him say (over the cube wall) that "my co-worker
has it up and running - set me up so that it will work on my Mac also".

I came in this morning and now I'm getting a "Not Connected" message next
to my Exchange mailbox.

Is it possible that the twits in IT downstairs pulled the plug on me
somehow? All I want to do is use Entourage in stead of outlook (which works,
by the way, on the POS PC that they gave me).

How do I know if this is the case without calling IT?

Also, how can I get it all working again? Any ideas here?

Thanks,

Hi Steve,

Yes...
If you have Entourage 2004, you are synching through WebDAV. If you
still have Webmail running on the server, then you should be able to
sync using the same address.
If you have Entoruage X, e-mails are synching through IMAP.

Outlook uses a completely different protocol called MAPI. IT can simply
shut-off WebDAV or IMAP and you're out.
It's also possible they've switched WebDAV from http (not secure) to
https (secure), in which case, all you need is to reconfigure your
account accordingly ("sync using SSL"),
