glitch in grid

Can anyone explain this one? I went to create a query today and Access won't
draw the line to link two tables in the design grid. I can create the SQL
statement and it translates appropriately but I can't get it to draw the line
by dragging the mouse from one table to the next. Am I the only one this has
happened to?

Thanks for any explanation!

Yes, you are the only one ;-)
What happens when you attempt to create a join between tables?

Nothing. It won't create any link between tables in the grid - only if I go
to SQL view and enter the INNER JOIN.

Are you suggesting that in the query design view, if you grab the primary key
field from the parent table and drag it to its foreign key field in the child
table, the join isn't created?

Yes, Duane, that's what I'm suggesting - grabbing and dragging doesn't work -
no line is created - could my Access be corrupt? (I'm also having problems
with IE7 and had to reply to this via Firefox). Have run anti-virus checks.

I haven't heard of this issue. Are you sure the data types are the same or at
least an Autonumber to a Long Integer?

Yes, and since posting this I have learned that the same is true for links I
try to create in Crystal reports and SQL queries. I must have a major
problem with my computer and don't know where to turn.
