Hi David!

Are you using Entourage 2004? The latest version is 11.2.1.

When your Exchange account is set up you should see one of your address
book menu items appearing as "Directory (name of your Exchange account)"
in your list of Address Books, Contacts and Directories. Do you see this?

Does you Exchange account have an LDAP server specified?

bill, let me tell you my headache - I am a teacher and bought the
teacher student pack - it came with 3 licenses I installed office and 1
month later did a free install of everything to tidy things up - but but
but I can not find office anywhere - I fear I have thrown it out with
the mac box etc. I have contacted my MS education contact but I fear I
have had it and will have to buy again. at the min I am using the trail
which I have just discovered will not be updated by the latest updater.

If you still have your product keys (and a proof of purchase), you might be
able to order a replacement CD from Microsoft.

the product keys were on 3 labels on the back of the pack :( I think am
going to have to re-buy it, very upsetting but you know what it is like
you can not wait to get going on the new machine and packaging gets
untidy and things get binned. although I bet 2-3 days after I rebuy I
will find the original :(

When i click on the address book it says "an operation on the server

I can not get my head round this.

Hi David!

This could very well be that your network connection to retrieve
addresses is slow and not responding as quickly as Entourage would like.
Unfortunately, you can't adjust Entourage's time to wait for a response
as Outlook for Windows will let you do.

Are you trying to use Entourage/Exchange on your organization's network
or at home? Home access to private directories is often blocked for
security reasons.

Also, double-check that your account is not the only account displaying
this problem. Go to Entourage menu --> Switch Identity... and have a
colleague set up his account on your machine using the same directory
settings you have. Does he get the same results?

Finally, you may need to find a friendly ear in your organization's
technical support department to help you troubleshoot any connection
issues. It could be as simple as a wrong server name in your directory
settings or more complex such as network settings.

Hope this helps! bill
