Gmane server problems?

Is anyone else having problems reading Gmane newsgroups?

Robert

Yes, they do cause a problem - they appear to be incorrectly configured.

I reported this back in August last year - the upshot was that failures also
occurred with Outlook news reader, Entourage X, Entourage 2004, Hogwasher &
Unison.

It is highly unlikely that a fix will be put in place to work round one
single news server's bad habits.

Funny it only happens on a Mac...and not with Thunderbird (which I don't
really want to use) and I have no problems at all on Windows XP at work with
either Outlook or T-Bird again.

How are they incorrectly configured? Maybe I can talk with the Gmane folks
to get it fixed.

Not only on a mac - it seems to be variable depending on the client you use
- some work, some don't.

I honestly can't say - I don't use gmane, I just picked up on a complaint in
one of the forums somewhere and passed it on, after a little checking of my
own.

I have the same problem and get this error message trying to load a group:

"Error: What?; Explanation: Cannot retrieve mail. Account name:
....; Error: 130"

Can anyone tell us what error 130 is?

This might help in getting gmane to fix their configuration.
