Grammar check anomaly

Word 6 seems to do a better job checking grammar than
word 97 or Word 2000 (the 2 versions I have access to).

Take this example with a missing period:

I walked the dog She fed the cat.

Word 6 will detect the missing period, while
Word 2000 doesn't find any mistakes.

Isn't that pathetic?

Am I missing something?
Can I persuade word 97/2000 to be more thorough?
I have it set to check everything (spelling, grammar),
formal style.

I did a Copy/Paste on your example into Word 2003. It suggested that "She"
needed a lower case "s"
Have you changed any of the options of the grammar module?

hi Bernard

Not that I'm aware of ...
There doesn't appear to be much to tinker with.
I just enabled everything and unticked any exceptions
except for web addresses.

Note that the suggestion re the S is invalid as the
result would still not be grammatically correct,
whereas inserting a period is a proper solution.

As noted, Word 6 gets it right, later versions do not.
