graphic in RTF file compressed when opened in Word 2002

I have an RTF file which contains a graphic, height=.52 in, width = 2.58 in.
When I open the RTF file in Word 2002, the graphic gets compressed to
height=.02in width=.09in. Does anyone know of issues that Word 2002 has with
RTF files? Fyi, if the RTF is opend in Word 2000 and saved as a .doc file,
the graphic displays correctly in Word 2002.
