Graphics won't display

I'm now seeing this problem on both Word 2000 AND XP.
When using embedded graphics, they display only as
outline boxes that usually aren't even the same size as
the graphics! I do NOT have "Picture Placeholders"
turned on, and all the closing, rebooting, restarting,
etc. makes no difference. My 2000 machine will no longer
display any graphics at all, save those boxes. The
graphics do appear in a print preview, but manipulating
them gets tricky. Anybody seen this? Is it a memory
issue, perhaps? Workarounds?

Check under the Print (tab) Tools > Options, if Drawing Objects is checked.

If you don't know how to see answers, how will you see this one?

I have the same problem, and I don't know why. (Where do answers appear in
this discussion group?)

UPDATE: As I suspected, I updated my video driver and the
problem SEEMS to have improved; however, I'm still getting
a "table has been corrupted" error (which, according to
Microsoft, was fixed in XP - it's not). About halfway
through the doc, I get a "not enough memory to display
graphics" error, and my graphics are REPLACED by empty
boxes. They are effectively removed. This happens
whether there is or isn't something else open, and I've
turned off the virus scan, etc. that would be a tech
support person's first choice. Any ideas?
