Gray mailbox folders

I was wondering if anyone knows what the significance is of gray mailbox folders. I have an IMAP account listing various sub-mailboxes on the left side of my screen and they all appear normal. When I click on the header for the account the mailboxes then show up to the right where the messages normally would be, but some of the mailbox icons are monochrome gray while others have color. They all seem to be working fine and have mail in them I just don't understand what this signifies.

Thanks!

Entourage gives you the ability to show some but not all IMAP folders. Each
one has to be "subscribed" to. If you control-click one of the gray folders
you have the option to Subscribe to it, which will make it show in your
folder list.
