Group Lists on Exchange

My client would like to have several group lists in Entourage on their new
Exchange server. Microsoft tech support tells me that this is not an
available feature in Entourage and that realistically it's a very
rudimentary implementation for local contact lists only. However, the same
tech referred me over to this news list to see if anyone here may have a
work-around or know something that he doesn't.

Thanks in advance!

Your tech support guy is right - Exchange Distribution Lists don't sync
across to entourage, but once they are set up in exchange you can use them
just like any other address in Entourage.

Locally users can maintain their own groups in Entourage, but these aren't
synced to Exchange either, so a database rebuild will cause them to be lost,
unless they remember to back them up first! I keep a copy of all my groups
in entourage notes (I use a script to sync them back and forth) so they
survive any database rebuilds.

And when you say "Once they are set up in exchange...", do you mean lists
for the people on the domain? My users want to create lists for external
contacts constructed from their own contact lists. If there is a way I can
pluck contacts from the exchange side and form them into a distribution
list, please let me know. But my only experience with distribution
lists/groups in Exchange has been for users who are in the domain.

Thanks again for the info, look forward to hearing back!
