Group Messages Error

Hi,

I used Entourage 2003, and was able to send individual and group messages
with no problems. I purchased Entourage 2004 and it loaded OK, and I have
been able to send individual emails OK, without ticking any of the boxes in
the SMTP Advanced location. But when I attempt to send a group message to 29
recipients, I get Error 17092, saying the incorrect syntax was used, and
suggesting I visit the authentication location. Referring to my ISP
(Broadband) is no help, they don't support Entourage. They did say to tick
the box "Use same settings as receiving", but that only resulted in a
different error, one requiring entry of the password.

I wouldn't think 29 recipients would stretch the resources of Entourage, and
I can't see why I can send a single message with no problems, but the
program gags when I attempt a group message. Can anyone comment?

Check the contents of the group - are all addresses formed correctly? Do any
of the group's contents have no email address? This can cause problems.

Also, are any of the group's members another group? Allen/Mickey recently
reported problems with nested groups in 2004 here. This may be another
instance of that.

Barry:

I was getting the same error prompt (Error -17092) and I took your advice
and went to accounts-smtp advanced and clicked on smtp server requires
authentication.

When I did so, the error prompt turned from -17092 to -17099 [PERMFAIL]
destination not valid within DNS.

I didn't have any problem with Office X with my Mac but the new version of
Entourage 11.1 for Office 2004 is giving me headahces.

Any suggestions on how to solve this problem?
