Handout different than on-screen view

We have a presentation from someone else and are trying
to print out the Handout version for a binder. What
prints on the page (in handout mode) is different than
what's on the screen for each slide. It looks like they
used a few different master slides/designs/graphics and
they are layering or something. When I tried to change
the Master slide (deleted one graphic), it only affected
certain slides. It's got me quite puzzled.

Have you asked the "someone else" what they did and how you can best print
the handouts?

No, my boss was trying to refrain from doing that.
The "someone else" isn't that great with computers or
Powerpoint, so we were trying to figure it out with
inconveniencing her or confusing her. I'm thinking she
doesn't know how she did this (layer masters?) and
wouldn't know how to undo it.

It shows one slide master design on the screen and prints
a different one out on the handout sheet.

Black and white printer?

If could be that they have set something *not to print* by using the
View
Black and White
Right click an object and choose "black and white"
then choose "don't show"

Well, what version of PowerPoint was it created in and what version are you
viewing it in?

Yes, it's a black and white printer. But, the thing is,
we have other speakers using Powerpoint presentations and
all they're background (colored or not) printed out in
greyscale just fine. You can actually tell there's a
background on their slides on the handout sheets. On
hers, the dark background isn't printing either. It's
the strangest thing.

I did try that though and it didn't help. It's printing
one Master slide design and showing a different one on
the screen for the actual presentation. How is that?

My original post was trying to explain how someone may have set certain
images on the slide master "not" to print on black and white printers.
