I am having an intermittent problem when downloading
email from my pop server. I start an Outlook
Send/Receive and some messages will be transferred.
However, on certain emails the Outlook 2002 Send/Receive
will hang for several minutes and eventually get a error
(unfortunalely I did not write this down). If I exit
Outlook, re-enter and again do a Send/Receive I do not
receive any further messages and again will eventually
get the error. I know that there are additional messages
in my mail box, becasue I discovered that I can fix this
if I logon to my mail server via Internet Explorer and
delete the offending email (the oldest one), I can then
go back to Outlook and the remaining messages will
transfer.
The offending mail is typically a small spam message with
an attachment, this has never happened with a legatimate
message. Is there something in a downloaded message that
can cause this with Outlook? I can view the offending
message via Internet Explorer and I do not see anything
unusual.
This is a nusance, that happenes on average of about
every other week.
