Having Entourage check for mail from Exchange Server

Stupid question- If I use Entourage 2008 with Exchange Server it takes
a long to open up Entourage. Absent leaving it open down in the
Dock, will it still automatically check for mail behind the scenes?
Is there any way to have it do so without having to open it up
manually every day to check? Any suggestions?

Yep, it syncs on a regular basis all by itself.

Not really... Entourage has to be running to check.

Doesn't it only check for mail when Entourage 2008 is running, as you state
below? If so, it seems the best bet is to "Hide" it, using the Entourage
menu

My solution: Add Entourage to your startup items (e.g., by clicking and
holding on the Entourage icon in the dock and selecting Open at Login). Then
use the Schedule button in the Energy Saver preference to get your Mac to
start up a few minutes before you expect to start using it each morning. By
the time you get to the computer, it will have downloaded all the mail that
has come in since you last shutdown (or logged out).
