Having trouble importing "Groups" and "Folders" from and to same version of Entourage

I have a G4 laptop running OS 10.2.8 and Entourage X and recently
purchased an iMac running OS 10.3.1 with the same version of Entourage
X. I have imported my contacts onto the new iMac but am having
difficulty importing folders and groups.

I have tried copying over my Microsoft User Data identity folder from
the laptop to the new iMac. I received the message "that this identiy
could not be used by this version of Entourage." They are the exact
same versions. Could it be because old computer is Jaguar and new
version is Panther?

Thanks for any help!

I have tried copying over my Microsoft User Data identity folder from

could not be used by this version of Entourage." They are the exact
same versions.

And what version would that be? Update both Entourage X to the latest
version 10.1.4 by using Office updaters 10.1.2 and 10.1.4 (and might as well
10.1.5 too although it won't affect Entourage).

Could it be because old computer is Jaguar and new
version is Panther?

No. There's something wrong with the database. Could it be that you have a
later updated version of Entourage (perhaps 10.1.1 or 10.1.4) on the laptop
than you do on the iMac (maybe 10.0.0)? Or - is it possible that you
actually tried bringing over the _wrong_ MUD folder - namely the one you
used for Entourage 2001 that lived in the Documents folder on the root of
your hard drive rather than the one in /Users/[you]/Documents?

In any case, once you have updated both Entourages to 10.1.4, do an Advanced
Rebuild on the PB. Then bring over just the Office X Identities folder to
the /Users/[you]/Documents/Microsoft User Data folder on the iMac. Then
Repair Disk Permissions (/Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility). Then try
again.

If still no good, use Remove Office on the iMac to remove all of Office,
reinstall it and update to 10.1.4 again. I just had a _lot_ of trouble
reinstalling Office and updating my iBook recently after I re-partitioned
the hard drive. It took quite a few removes and reinstalls until it came
right. I kept getting errors "I/O Error (Disk bad)" at various stages. But I
didn't have to reinitialize the disk again. I got one of those even after
using Disk Warrior. At that point a simple Log Out/Log in suddenly made
everything work!

Hi Paul,

Thanks for the advice. In checking both Entourage X apps are version
10.0.0. Should I update both to 10.1.4? Thanks again.
