"Header"? is taking up more space in v.2008

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel
Email Client: pop

I just upgraded to MS Office 2008 (mac) and in Entourage find the "header" directly above the message is much larger than before, taking up more space on my laptop screen (Subject, From:, To:). I looked in the preferences and View menus and could not find an adjustment. Is there any way to make it smaller?
