heading in long doc

Hi there,

I plan to use word xp to format my dissertation into the following format
using heading.

Heading1 --- 1. Introduction
Heading2 --- 1.1 Background
....

Heading6 --- Appendix A: blahblah
Heading7 --- A.1 Blahblabh
Heading8 --- A.1.1 Blahblahbla


But my word document right now show a different story.

1
1.1
1.2

2.
2.1
2.1.1
2.1.1.1

Appendix A
A.1

Appendix B
A.2 <----- problem starts here
A.2.1


Heading7 doesnt seems to restart itself as I have ticked the "restart
numbering after level 6" box in the numbering options dialog


Any ideas??? or any better way to do this.
