Height and Width always blank

A recent problem has cropped up in PPT 2003 / Windows. Whenever I create a
drawing object and go into Format Object, both the height and width fields
are blank. Same thing for the scaling fields. If I try to use the spinners,
the values start at zero...nowhere near the size of the actual object. Has
anyone seen this or have suggestions how to fix?

I remember it too - there were quite a few posts. I cant think was the final
answer was though!

Nice find, John!

It *is* a maddening little buglet (or "by design-let"), and I've sure got no
idea what the difference is between objects that exhibit this behavior and
objects that don't.

Strange thing is I don't think that's the one I remember. I'm pretty sure I
added a few (wrong) ideas!

But the really weird thing was I remember starting "It's never happened here
so .... I can't test this...." and then a week later it happened to me!

Whatever the answer was I remember it worked! Maybe I need a brain reboot

(Steve *solved* it for me but... he is getting... well... getting...)

;-)

Check my *wording of the menues*...

Insert a "Text box" > Adjust size of the autoshape to text (the 2nd one) >
Click on predetermined for new objects (in "Colors and lines")...

Draw a rectangle... --> no "size"

Insert a "Text box" > Adjust line of text to the autoshape (the 1st one) >
Click on predetermined for new objects... (in "Colors and lines")...

Draw a rectangle... --> "size"

Odd thing. Mixed up bits of Italian and Spanish.

Those fields will also be blank if the box is set to "Resize Autoshape to Fit
Text." You have to uncheck it, click OK to exit, and then go back into it to
see the Height and Width.
