I am using Outlook 2003 and connect to an IMAP server where I am trying to
modify the default view for IMAP folders (which is "IMAP Messages") to my
liking.
I followed these instructions from a book:
"In most cases, changing the current view affects only the current folder's
view. To change the view across all folders, you must modify the view, not
customize it. Open the Custom View Organizer using View, Arrange By, Current
View, Define Views and select the view by name (not <current view
settings>), and then choose Modify."
I did exactly what was written. Once inside the "Define Views" window, I
selected "IMAP Messages", then modify. I added and removed the columns I
wanted and selected the sorting order. I then applied the changes with
"Apply View". The current folder changed to exactly what I wanted.
Unfortunately, when I went to another IMAP folder (also using the "IMAP
Messages" view), all the settings I had changed were gone and the view was
rendered in the default format.
What gives? Is there a way to save the view state (namely the columns and
widths) for a "view" so it applies to all my IMAP folders.
Before learning that there was even a way to change a view's settings (as
stated above), I spent about an hour and went through each of my views and
customized them. When I restarted Outlook, they were still there, but the
next (maybe after a reboot), all the settings were reset.
Can I accomplish this with IMAP folders in Outlook 2003? Am I missing
something obvious?
Thanks,
