Help: Entourage Sending Bogus "not read" messages

M

Matt Cummins

Anyone had this problem:

Entourage sends out receipts saying I have deleted emails without
reading them, even though I have.
· A regular client (who uses PC MS Outlook) says he gets them 1/2 of
the time.
· A boss received one for a crucial department communique.
· A co-worker (who uses Mac Outlook) got one while looking for her
phonebook.

All of these were messages I read, and then subsequently deleted, in
non-preview mode (as in, I double click emails to open them in their
own windows).

I'm running Entourage 11.2.3 on Mac OS 10.4.7

If you have had this problem, or know how to fix it, drop me a line!
Thanks!

First off, it is not entourage that is sending the response - it doesn't do
that!

I am guessing that the exchange server is sending these responses on your
behalf. Entourage connects to the server via the same protocols that OWA
uses, so the DNR should work just the same. I guess it is possible that if
you are not connected at the time you read and deleted the message that when
you next connect all the server sees is the delete, and not the reading of
the message.

Not sure what you can do about it though, other than try to educate people
that DNRs are unreliable.
