Outlook will not automatically open the attachment because it was designed
with business in mind. You will have to do one of two things. Either you
can double click on the attachment to open it or right click and select open,
print, or save (if you would like to use a virus scan before you open it.)
I am sure this is not what you wanted to hear but I hope it helps. Outlook
express will allow you to do what you are asking if you are looking for an
alternative.
