HELP! Strange characters in signature

Outlook 2000

When replying to some e-mails, strange characters

ÿþ

are added in front of the first word of my signature.

Happens in HTML, Rich Text and Plain Text formats. Only when replying to
some e-mails, not all. What could be causing this? Is there any remedy??
