Hi there fellow Entourage users:

I am new to Entourage 2008. I have been using it on three different Macs to access email on an Exchange 2008 server. Entourage 2008 is quite a bit different than Apple's Mail (which I have been using for ages) and I have three questions.

First off, I am using Entourage 2008 with the same Exchange 2003 email account on three different Macs. In Apple's Mail, I have the option to save the mail on the server (IMAP) and download every message to my Macs in folders that correspond to the ones I created on the Exchange server. My first question is simple. I want to be able to have all my email physically sitting on all three of my Macs, but keep it all on my employer's email server. How do I set that up?

Secondly, in a failed attempt to fix the problem in my first question, I somehow set up just the one Mac in my office to download email from a certain recipient to my Mac's local inbox instead of to the server and remove it from the Exchange server. How do I stop that?

Third, much to my disappointment, I learned very quickly that in order to set up server-side rules, I need to use an Outlook client on a Windows PC. I am having a hard time understanding why that functionality isn't available on Entourage 2008. To make matters worse, if I use a web browser from my OS of choice, which is Mac OS X 10.5.5, I can't even go to our Exchange server's web site and click on the rules button. The rules button simply doesn't show up on the webmail version of Exchange, which means that I need both Entourage and Outlook just to read my emails and manage my rules. I know no one in here probably can speak for Microsoft, but I wonder if anyone has heard of any movement by MS to improve that aspect of Entourage.

Thanks,

Stan Horwitz

If you can set up an account as IMAP in Mail, you should also be able to set
it up as IMAP in Entourage. That should solve your first problem and your
second.

As for the third, you'll have to contact MS. You can request this capability
by using the Send Feedback ... command on the Help menu in any Office app.

tan,

as you rightlu guess, nobody here can speak for MS, and they rarely
pre-announce future application features.

However, there has been a steady improvement in the feature list in
entourage over time, especially those features that are related to
exchange. I see no reason for this steady improvement to stop, so we can
live in hope that comparability to outlook will continue to improve.

Please use the 'send feedback' link under the help menu to let MS know
you want this feature. The more people that ask for it, the more likely
it is to be implemented.
