Help with Exchange Server Address Book

K

Kevin Margo

Sending and receiving mail from internal and external contacts works.
Scheduling events with the calendar seems to be working fine. My issue with
Entourage X is with the Global Address Book. I am getting an error "LDAP
Server Error." with an explanation of "A connection failure has occurred.'
and an error code of "-3260". Any help would be appreciated.

It's quite possible your LDAP server isn't set up correctly. See this page
for details on the error:
<http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=824887>

Ask your server administrator to make sure LDAP access is enabled. Ask
him/her what the correct server name is. Then, go to Tools -> Accounts,
open your Exchange account, click the "Directory" tab, and make sure that
server entry is correct.

If you continue to have problems, try toggling the first "advanced option"
on that screen.

If that doesn't work, ask your administrator if the LDAP server requires
authentication. If it does not, that could be causing your problem. The
workaround is described in Note #17 on The Entourage Help Page.

It might also be that the LDAP server requires certain services to be
active. You then need to dig in the DIrectory Access app and you really
need the help of the Net Admin for this one :-\

I had the same error. I fixed it this way:

1. Ensure you have the correct FULL address for the LDAP server. Should be
something like server.ad.business.com. Talk to your IT folks.

2. You might need a search base set. Would be similar to:
cn=users,dc=ad,dc=nps,dc=navy,dc=mil. Again, talk to your IT people.

3. Last, you might need to override the default port in advanced options.
Find out what port you're supposed to connect through and override the
default port.

Good luck.....
