help with Function is it possible

i have a worksheet which has defined names for ranges which are used for validating policy types, theses can belong to a sub group so i need to check which sub group

for example i want to check cell d3 and if sub group = investments then take an actio

values in d3 could be bond, pep, isa, pension, endowment, oeic, ter
but subgroup investment could be pep, isa,bond,oei

i want an IN function
d3 in investments

any ideas
