my college is using outlook 5.5 and htey have told me that i cant use
entourage because it sends attack of service messages and shutdown the
server.
They're full of crap. They're confusing Entourage with MS emailers on
Windows: Outlook and Outlook Express. Entourage doesn't do any of that.
Mostly they just don't want to know and don't care. My university does the
same thing - when they install Office X on Macs they strip out Entourage.
It's just the low-level idiots who do the actual installation who don't know
any better, and echo the line they're taught to give about Outlook Windows.
When I complained to the guy at the very top of the IT food chain, he knew
very well that Entourage didn't do any of that. He defended the practice by
saying that supporting only a single email client (Mulberry) that works the
same on Mac and Windows, and was designed for IMAP, it's much easier for
their department to take care of things. That's probably true as it saves
them training their lackeys to learn more than one email app. If you insist,
I think you can get to keep Entourage.
They made me take it off and i am po'ed.
i love entourage
is there any fix to make the talk to each other
im only using entourage from my school office not offsite
No fix is necessary. Entourage does not, and cannot, be an originator of any
of those viruses. None of them work on the Mac. But if you forward a message
containing a Windows virus attachment to someone else on Windows, you can be
a carrier. If you get the latest version (9) of Norton Antivirus, you can
have it strip out Windows viruses on your Mac. That makes you 100% safe. Do
that (your school should have it, although they may not have the latest
version as it's cheaper for them to distribute the previous version. Then
they could have no rational reason for not letting you use Entourage. That
doesn't mean they will though, since they're not always rational.
