HelpDesk/ maintenance request

Hi

Does anyone have any experience of using Project Server for Help Desk/
Maintenance request for web based projects.

I'm trying to have all our systems / work using project server etc - I like
the idea of say setting up a master project called maintenance and adding
tasks to subtask - called clients etc . Then using the traffic light system,
we can then track and inform ourselves and the clinets when their maintenance
is about to be used up as the helpdesk guys can add time/notes to tasks etc...

Any views or experience of this would be helpful - or you may say dont even
try this and use helpdesk software... ;-0

Kind Regards

I would use help desk software! Project Server can do what you ask, but
it's over-kill. Sooner or later you are going to want to do help desk
management project server is not suited for.

I would agree with Rod. Also see the current discussion thread "adding
duration units" - your helpdesk scheduling is definitely a case where what
you're calling "projects" really aren't. There is no identifiable end point
where you close down the desk after all work is done and everyone goes home.
Since Project's designed to calculate the most efficient way for you to
reach an end point which for you doesn't exist, it's really not the best
tool for you to use.
