I have a list of vendors and how much money we sent on
them for 3 years
I sorted each sheet so the vendors we used the most or on
top

Each year is a separate worksheet.

How can I see the top 20% of vendors we use the most for
all three years?

Like if "company B" is number 1 in 2001, 3 in 2002 and 5
in 2003 it would be list once in my query as a company
that defiantly in the top 20%

Please help

John's post
I have 3 worksheets: 2001, 2002, and 2003

I have listed all the vendors that my company used in
those years with about 1000 in each worksheet Sorted by
total about we spend with them

For Example "company A" is always on top because we spent
the most with them all 3 years

I want to make a summary page that shows what are the top
25% of vendors that show up all 3 years

Any ideas?

P.S. on all the 3 worksheets the vendors are listed in
B6:b1000

I think after this you won't get any answer!

Sure Hope will.

Yes, there's a way of doing it.

See? Whether that's the answer Hope wanted is a different matter.

Sure there is, and I bet Don knows it, but I don't think anyone will be
teeling you.

All ways of doing this involve combining the data from the separate worksheets.
That involves either manually combining the data from each worksheet into a
single worksheet, making year an additional field, or using a formula technique
to treat the data in the three worksheets as a single array. The simplest of the
formula approaches would be to use the THREED function in Laurent Longre's
MOREFUNC.XLL add-in, which you can download from

1. I think Hope is likely a female

2. Calling someone some a name likely isn't going to get her (o
perhaps yes, him) the answer they need; however...

3. I think I know why Hope got snippy - she wanted a reasonable answe
for her question, and the first thing she got was some smarmy commen
about the title of the post AND another smarmy comment about the actua
question. I thought the reason for this board was to get assistance
not sarcasm. (Sorry Don - we ALL aren't as knowledgeable as one migh
want us to be - hence the reason for things like, this.)

4. Seeing as I've been told I'm able to fake being a grown - up, mos
of the time, I'll stop criticizing and just request that if I ask fo
help for something here in future, perhaps someone can see their wa
clear to maybe give me a "hand" without judgement on my communicatio
skills? And I promise, since I'm not a young girl as I'm thinking Hop
likely is and therefore hasn't learned the nuances yet of friendl
adult communication, that I won't call anyone names. At least not i
text. Just kiddin'. ;)

Thanks

I subscribe to this opinion.

I think Hope was treated shabbily from the beginning.

Guillett's answer was uncalled for and not in the spirit of these news groups.

Then the "mob" became aroused and with torches and pitchforks in hand set out
to destroy the beast.

Entertaining stuff, I must admit.

Guillett's answer was in the spirit of a little humor to get the point
across that subject lines should be meaningful and homework or duplicate
requests from the same person shouldn't happen. I guess the A$$hole comment
was called for? Geeeeeze!! Lighten up Gordo...... Cats are dangerous but A
little sense of humor never hurt anybody.

BTW. Glad you were entertained.

Unfair characterization of my second response.

Apologies Harlan.

Should have excluded you from the "mob".

Your second post was a legitimate shot at helping the OP.
