HexEdit on attachments

I am having trouble sending attachments because they end up as HexEdit
files and no one gets them. How does this happen and how can I change
it is my question. I scan my attachments via Photoshop and they are pdf
files. I don't know where HexEdit comes in or why. If anyone can point
me in the right direction, that would be terrific. Thanks, Liz

Your Launch Services database may be wonky. First of all, what kind of files
are you trying to attach? Do they have file extensions like .txt or .doc?

Oh, wait, I see you say they are PDF files. Do they have the .pdf extension
to the filename? If not, try adding that and see what happens.

Also, if that does not work, use Get Info to open one of those files and
change the "Open With" selection to whatever you think is appropriate for
PDFs, such as "Preview" or "Adobe Reader". Then, click the "Change All"
button to apply the change to all similar files.

I think the Get Info trick may be the solution. After looking there I
think I figured out that the attachments were going with a requirement
that they be opened in Photoshop and that must be where the HexEdit
came in. I am reassigning them to Preview. Am testing with the fax
service. Thanks alot for your help. I didn't know what to do.
