Hidden Addresses

I was preparing a group, and was entering some of the addresses from my
address book into the group, and as I was typing the beginnings of the
names, the anticipator -- the one that brings up the whole name of what you
are beginning -- brought up a whole list of names that are not even in my
address book. What is this all about?

They most likely came from your "Recent Addresses" list. Go to
Help/Entourage Help and search for "Recent Addresses" to help you understand
what's going on and how to use this feature better.

OK, I see what's happening. It brings up all of the addresses with those
letters in all the folders in the system: ie: sent; draft; inbox; and etc.

How would I restrict this anticipator to just the address book?

Since you're in Office 2001, things are more complicated and less intuitive
than in more recent versions of Office. Have a look at this webpage for more
details:
