Hiding problem

Entourage seems to have some bug I wonder if anyone else has noticed.

If you have six programs running and select to hide them all except
Entourage, for some reason, when you then go to hide Entourage the hide
Entourage option is grayed out.

Also, If you six applications up and you go to Safari, and select hide
others, then you come back to hide Safari, Entourage pops up! -- even
though you may still want it to be hidden!

It's exactly the same with any other application (incl. Finder) from the
File Menu. If you use some add-in tool called "ASM" (see it here:
http://www.vercruesse.de/ ) you can still ask to hide it when you have
hidden all the others before (but it's a strange request).

It's not Entourage. It's the previously used application that pops up. You
simply can't hide EVERYTHING. You must at least have one app visible. Maybe
you'd prefer to see the Finder in such case, but that's just not the way
things go. The Finder is just another app, and behaves mostly like that.

Once upon a time, in the OS 9 days, there was a Shareware called "FinderPop"
offering an applet called "ShowFinder/HideOthers". I don't know if there is
an equivalent for OS X of this feature...

LiteSwitch has this hide windows option.
