Highlighting Text in Project

Does anyone know how I can high light cells in Project 2003. I am working
with on a large project with over 500 tasks. I want to be able to quickly
identify different phases in the project by high lighting the cells. I know
that I can change the font color but that will not work because I want to
tract two different things. So I will have different text (font) colors as
well as a high lighted or cell color. Any help would be greatly appreciated
