Hit Counter

J

John E.

Greetings:
I'm running FrontPage 2002, and I inserted a "Hit Counter" into my Web Site,
and when I opened up my Web Site, I took note that I was of course, the
first visitor. But, when I go outside of my Web Site, and come back, the
"Hit Counter" doesn't register that I visited my Web Site again; it still
stays on the same number.

If I click on the "Refresh Button," of my browser (Internet Explorer," the
number of the "Hit Counter" does tabulate correctly. Shouldn't the "Hit
Counter" change each time I come back to the home page of my Web Site?

Sincerely,
John E.

Depends on how you have your Browser set. If you have it set to update
every visit to the site, it will show another hit. If you don't have your
browser set that way, it will not show another hit until you refresh.

What does that have to do with MY browser? I'm publishing a Web Site, and I
want others to see the total on the counter from THEIR browser. And where
does one change any settings for showing another Hit?

In IE 6, click on Tools, Internet Options, General Tab, Temporary Internet
Files, click on settings, then check Every visit to the page, OK. This
setting will check the web page every time you visit, and the counter will
increase.
