hlep with crashing

L

lorry

Occurs in the mode (not full slide mode) as in the
picture. If I right click on a movie, click play OR just
double click the movie, it plays fine, however as soon as
I move off the movie, by clicking to stop it or clicking
somewhere else, then the program freezes and a dialog box
comes up that says "the specified device is now being
closed, wait a few seconds and then try again"

The movies play fine in fullscreen mode, its only in
slidesorter mode that the problem occurs..plese help me.

[CRITICAL UPDATE - Anyone using Office 2003 should install the critical
update as soon as possible. From PowerPoint, choose "Help -> Check for

Hello,

Did you know that you can automatically send a crash Microsoft nearly any
time an Office 2002 or Office System 2003 application crashes?

When the crash occurs a crash reporting dialog will appear with a message
that begins something like: "Microsoft Office <application> has encountered
a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

When this occurs:

1) Click on "What data does this report contain?
2) Note down the following information:

* AppName:
* AppVer:
* AppStamp:
* ModName:
* ModVer:
* ModStamp:
* fDebug:
* Offset:

3) There might also be a "bucket" number. If so, note down that number as
well.
3) Click "Close"
4) Click "Send Error Report

If you post the information noted in steps 2 and 3 above to this newsgroup
I might be able to verify whether or not this is already a known issue and,
if it's known, possibly a way to avoid or fix the problem in the future.

Thank you for all your help so far.

The mode i am talking about is normal view.
The files are either avi files (taken from a GE MRI scanner) - some are mpgs made with winMPG converter.

I am not getting any crash reporting dialog when the program freezes. As far as i know, error reproting is not turned off. The only ways to get the program to quit are via ctrl-alt-delete orthrough the microsoft application recovery tool.

DO i need to turn crach reporting on? If there is anything i can do to help you eg screen shots or files to send to you please ask.

Thanks again

Nope. THe crashes are / were happening with all media file types - avis, mpgs from different sources

I reinstalled windows - (first by repairing) - didnt help, and then with a full reinstall after reformatting the hard drive. reloaded office and now everything is working fine!

I have tried to think back over anything i may have downloaded or installed lately. I have run spybot for the first time in months and also installed the microsoft document info scrubber add-in. Who knows? All I can tell you is that I'm glad that things are (at least for now) working

Thank you all for your inpu
