Home Publishing 2000

I recently needed repair work done on my hard drive. It’s now necessary to reinstall my software. When I reinstall Home Publishing 2000, the installation wizard tells me it was a success. However, when I try to open the program, I first get the product registration message (which I bypass), the opening screen starts to come up but then freezes. This then freezes the whole computer.

I have tried to uninstall and then reinstall but the same thing happens each time. I am running Windows 98. Can you help?

Where do I find the correct newsgroup? I was forced to choose a newsgroup when I posted my message. The list was not very helpful to a first time poster.

When you reinstall an operating system it
does not include all the upgrades you have
done since the computer was new.

More than likely, you need to update all
your drivers...Video, Printer, Scanner, etc...
also you need to install all the updates from
the Microsoft Windows Update site.

It's possible that reducing your Graphics
Hardware Acceleration would be an
improvement until you can update your
video driver.

The following article explains how to do it:

Graphics Issues

(scroll down to: Reduce the Graphics
Hardware Acceleration Setting)

Do you receive any error messages?

Wait for the page to load.

(if the newsgroup list doesn't load,
left click your Refresh button)

Scroll down the list in the left pane to:

You kiddies that cannot find the correct newsgroup are pathetic.

You need to find adult assistance instead of annoying the big people.

You need to crawl, waddle or get led by an adult to the PictureIt newsgroup.

Not as pathetic as people who have to hide behind a generic display name when posting

I'm reporting your message to Microsoft.
