Hotmail downloading to main inbox - ongoing problem

OK - so this problem has been posted more times than I can count, and
it appears that either nobody cares about this problem, or the solution
is burried somewhere so deep that Google Groups can't seem to find any
threads with a pertinent solution.

So - for all those with this problem (been showing up here for nearly a
year now), and those who may not be familiar:

Problem: Hotmail (regardless of the status -paid or free that is
grandfathered in) mail use to work great, downloading to it's own
folder set up just for the Hotmail account.

Then, all at once - and without any warning or explanation or changes
to our computers, preferences, or scripts, Entourage began downloading
Hotmail messages to our primary/main Inbox. For some people, this
may not have been too big of a problem, but for those who have a
seperate Hotmail inbox set up for a REASON (spam, or different account
purposes), this is a problem.

The few suggestions I have heard have ranged from:

Rebuilding my Entourage Database - done.
Delete Hotmail account from Entourage and set it back up again - done
Delete Hotmail preference - done
Check for scripts or rules associated with the Hotmail account - done
Delete Entourage and prefs, then re-install - done

None of the above "solutions" made any difference for me (and
apparently others here).

So what's the deal? Solutions? Or are we to be left in the lurch???

Hello? Does anyone from Microsoft read this newsgroup? Or is this
just another example of a monster corporation not really caring about
our little corner of their customer base????

Did it ever occur to you that no one knows a solution? hardly anyone is
using Hotmail any more, it seems, since they introduced charges to use with
POP mail clients, so no one who might otherwise be willing to test it out is
able to do so.

Maybe give up Hotmail as a lost cause? They seem to have changed their
server behavior, from the sound of it.

No, they don't. Not generally. It's a "peer-to-peer" newsgroup.

The Mac Business Unit is a rather small group that's dreadfully
overstretched, especially the Entourage subset, which does not port anything
form Windows, and is in the throes of trying to finis their Exchange update
(this year) on top of working on the next version. In the Word newsgroup,
you'll frequently see [MSFT] testers, but not here. However in the last few
days, only, a MSFT tester I don't know has made an appearance here. So you
never know...

For what it is worth, I have a Hotmail account that is still in "free" mode.
I haven't seen any problems with Entourage 2004 downloading mails, they
arrive in Hotmail/Inbox just like they're meant to.

Cheers,

Chris
