what are the errors you get?
It requires the configuration of a POP account.
Hope you have required details for that.

Hello,

I too have had problems with the Entourage 2001 and Hotmail dilemma. I
found a program called Mail Forward --> http://www.sspi-software.com/.
(I'm using the OS X version.)

I had a problem at first setting it up because it uses something called a
relay server, which gets abused by spammers I guess. (I'm not very geeky,
so I don't know the tech stuff.) Anyway, the mail forwarding started, but
then got blocked by something that acts as a firewall against spammers out
on the internet (See http://www.njabl.org/).

Having entered my ISP's smtp server, I simply had to enable Login in Mail
Forward's SMTP Options, then enter my user name and authentication password.

Works like a charm. Too bad Entourage doesn't! {:-(

Good luck,
Mick

I've been having problems which sound similar to Paul's issues.
Basically, Entourage (2001, in my case) had been able to send and
retrieve email from my paid Hotmail account until the end of September
or early October, at which time it started failing to connect to
Hotmail. The error message follows:

Could not retrieve mail from the account "HotMail."
HTTP error. The server does not support this request.
Error: 1501

I am able to connect to Hotmail via a web browser, but Entourage was
my preferred method (indeed, Hotmail access was the major reason I use
Entourage).

Anil - I'm not sure that I understand your remark about a POP account.
Doesn't Hotmail use a proprietary protocol?

Any suggestions?

Hotmail is moving to allow third party access only for chargeable accounts.
Free access will not be allowed any more.

As I mentioned in my original post, my account _is_ a chargeable
account (Hotmail Plus), but Entourage 2001 no longer retrieves
messages from hotmail...Again, any advice is appreciated, as the
webmail interface is not as convenient as the former Entourage access,
so I will likely cancel my paid hotmail account...
