HotSync Problems

Bill

I have been following the issues related to hotsync with
the Palm. My T3 synced fine until I installed Microsoft
Office 2004. I spent a considerable time on the phone with
Microsoft support who told me there was nothing I could
do. I opted to go back to Microsoft Office X, but that
does not work as well. Is there a new conduit manager out
there somewhere? Has anyone solved this problem yet?

Can't believe that MS support wouldn't tell you there is a new Entourage
hotsync installer in the Additional Tools folder within the Office 2004
folder. Or aren't you asking about syncing with Entourage?

Don't forget that you need to make sure your other Palm conduits need to be
disabled in order for the Entourage conduit to function.

Go to Library --> Application Support --> Palm HotSync

Place the original Palm conduits (Calendar, To-Do, Memos, Contacts) into a
new folder called "Conduits (Disabled)" -- after that, make sure the
Entourage conduit (installed with the Installer Alan mentioned) is in the
Conduits folder.

So, in the end, it looks like this:

Library --> Application Support --> Palm HotSync --> Conduits --> (contains
Microsoft Entourage Conduit and perhaps iSync and others, just no Palm
stuff)

Library --> Application Support --> Palm HotSync --> Conduits (contains
Address, Tasks, Memos, Calendar)

Actually, the MS Entourage Hotsync installer will automatically place the
Palm conduits in the disabled folder. You do not need to do that in
advance.

Sure, but it's still a good troubleshooting step in case other conduits were
installed after the installation of Entourage, isn't it?

You are right. It's always good to check. I just wonder if the original
poster is even around reading our repartee :)

I also had the conduit settings not appearing when I double-clicked.

In the end, I did two things to resolve it:

* Two versions of the Entourage Database Daemon were listed in my
Login (or accounts in system preferences) Items (the v.X and 2004). I
deleted them both from Login Items and re-added just the version from
the Office 2004 install (found in the Office sub-folder). (Sloppy
install from the CD, Microsoft).

* I deleted the old Office v.X installation (the uninstall option in
the Office 2004 folder, in additional tools).

Hope this helps,
Surelys
