How can I delete old calendar items?

B

Bob Penzenik

I have almost 8 years of old calendar items in my Entourage data file.
(Most of them carried over from the old MS Mail application.) While
everything still runs fine there is no reason to keeping backing up
dead material and syncing it to my Palm.

I can't seem to find a way to delete just a portion of the old data. I
still want to keep the prior year's info online.

Any ideas?

everything still runs fine there is no reason to keeping backing up
dead material and syncing it to my Palm.

Make a calendar Custom View:

Name: All Events

ˆ Calendar Events

Match <if ANY criteria are met>

Category Is None
Category Is not None

That will give you a custom view of all your events. Sort by Date, and
delete all events prior to last year that aren't continuing recurring
events. In a custom view, recurring events appear only as their first
occurrence, but there is a column displaying a 'recurring" icon for those.

Or, to be safer and faster:

Name: Non-recurring Events

ˆ Calendar Events

Match <if ANY criteria are met>

Recurrence Is None

Then just shift-click the oldest and the last one you want to delete to
select all in between, and click Delete. You can then go back to "All
Events" (now greatly reduced) to check over your older recurring events to
see which are no longer continuing, and delete those too.
