Karen

I have Office Professional 2000 running on Windows 98. I am getting a new
computer which comes with Windows XP, but someone has told me that it wont
run the Office Professional 2000 discs.

Can I still run my office pack or do I have to by XP version? I hope not I
cant afford it.

THANKS

Office 2000 will work with Windows XP. If your copy of Office 2000 is a
retail (not OEM) version and a full (not upgrade) version, you shouldn't
have any problems installing on your new computer. But if your copy of
Office 2000 is an OEM version that came preinstalled on your old
computer, then you cannot legally install it on your new computer. If
your copy of Office 2000 is an upgrade (not full) version, then you will
need to have available the installation media for the qualifying product
that made you eligible to use the Office 2000 upgrade in order to
install Office 2000 on your new computer.

WOW!! !! !!!!
I just purchased a new notebook this past wk w/ Win XP.
Spent HOURS yesterday attempting to load Ofc Prfsnl
2000!! Disc 1 loads fine ... w/ minor quirks (NO
CLIPART!). Disc 2 will not load at all.

So I too will be MOST appreciative for any feed back
regarding this delimma.

I have the original 2-disc version (OEM) of Ofc 2K. It
is the full "professional" version ... not upgrade. As
mentioned in my previous post ... disc 2 will not load.
And no Clip Art.

Thanks,
SHiRL

I queried HP this afternoon and received a wonderful & very quick response to
resolve the issue. It depends if your new machine has a "straight" CD player
.... or if your new machine has a DVD/CD-RW medium.

TO RESOLVE ISSUE:
"Shirl, I am sorry to know that the Office 2000 disk 2 would not install, ...

.... the issue where MS Office 2000 disk 2 will not get installed occurs if
you use a DVD/CD-RW drive to install Office 2000.

To workaround this issue, you need to either install the disk 2 using a
CD ROM drive or dump the whole CD onto the Hard Drive and then run the
Setup.exe file.

OEM is tied to the old computer. You will need a legal copy to install
to a different PC.

Hi Shirl,

Is the disk scratched or dirty or damaged?
What exactly happens when you insert CD#2 and
manually run the setup program for that CD?

Have you shut down all other apps/utilities/antivirus
when running Office setup?
