How can I hide "default.htm" when online?

Hi

Is there a way to mask the page default.htm when a site is live?

For example - user is on page 3 of a site - user clicks link to HOME page.
In the address bar is would display: http://www.mysite.com/default.htm

Make the link to the home page <a href="/">home</a>
Or <a href="http://www.mysite.com/">home</a>

But why?
