how can I mail merge from novell-delivered applications?

I don't know how Novell's packaginf of Office differs from the standard
product (and of course, if someone wants to repackage and rebrand a product
then I guess they really ought to be providing support for it themselves)
but what does and what does not actually work?

My company runs novell-delivered office. I am having trouble merging word
docs to my access database. It is office 2003 that is being used.
