How can I set a rule to auto-forward to an external address?

S

Scott G

We use Exchange 2003 and Outook 2003. When I set up a rule to forward an
e-mail address to an external account, it seems like the message does not get
past our Exchange server. The e-mail appears in my sent items, but is not
received. If I manually send the e-mail to the address, it arrives ok. Is
there an Exchange setting blocking forwarded e-mails to the outside address?

Yes - by default, Exchange is set to not forward or reply to the Internet,
which is why your Out of Office messages are not sent to external recipients
either. The Exchange Admin would need to change this, but it is not a good
idea as it can result in mail loops that can (and have) bring down Exchange.
