How can I upgrade from Office 2000 to Office 2003?

I am a computer instructor at Arizona State University and Rio Salado
College. I have a student who asked me the above question in the subject
area. He already has Office 2000 on his laptop, how does he upgrade it to
Office 2003? Is the upgrade free and available as a download? If not, then
is it available at a local computer store (CompUSA, Frys Electronics, Best
Buy, etc.) as a software package to be purchased? Please respond to me via
my email address (e-mail address removed).

BWAHAHAHA! You're a "computer instructor" and you don't know the answer?
Sheeeesh!

You have to buy the upgrade. If you're happy with 2000, though, why bother?
The new bells and whistles aren't worth the money.

If they want the upgrade, consider Office 2003 Student and Teacher.
It's much less expensive.
