Please make sure your reply does not get sent to any mailing lists as a mail
loop can result and make you very unpopular!

I have found these types of automatic messages to be more of a bother than a
help. I did it ONCE in my lifetime and swear that I am plagued more by that
one single incident with JUNK and SPAM email than ever before. Here's how I
see it and if I am wrong, please, someone correct my thinking:

The auto reply goes to EVERY message you take in. So if someone is trolling
or phishing or whatever the heck they call it, you are CONFIRMING that your
email account is "live" and active. Now you end up getting on some list that
says, "Here's a live one, folks!"

I keep my preview window OFF and only open mail from people I know. I delete
ANYTHING that is JUNK or from a source I do not know or trust. This way I
hope I keep email crap down to a bare minimum.

I'd rethink pursuing AUTOREPLY.

If you're using as POP or IMAP account have a look at this link on The
Entourage Help Page
<http://www.entourage.mvps.org/rules/example/rule011.html>. Your service
provider may also offer a server-side utility for doing this, which
wouldn't require Entourage to be running. Check their own support pages
for this.

If you're using an Exchange Server account then have a look at this link
<http://www.entourage.mvps.org/exchange/outofoffice.html>.

I'll agree with Pete and others that unless you are able to control who
gets the messages (your acquaintances rather than spammers) this can
lead to problems if you're not careful.

Hope this helps! bill
