How do I allow users to print out slides from a running presentat.

Allan

I have devised a self running presentation and 'Packed and Go' 'd it. In the
presentation, there was a macro to enable the viewer to print the page.
What I needed was for the viewer to be able to print out a sheet of
information from the presentation to allow them to take it with them after
the screening.
THe macro to print the page was the best I could come up with - but it
doesn't workl in Pack and go!
Anyone have a suggestion as to how I could do this?

thanks in anticipation

You could create a "handout file" and include the file with the presentation. I
would recommend using File > Send to Word and then save the file as a Word or
PDF file. Or, if you have the full Acrobat application installed on your system
you could print the handouts to a PDF file from within PowerPoint. Users could
then be instructed to print the file if they need a printed copy of the
information.

Sonia,

Thank you for your reply.
A PDF file that the user could print and take away with them would be great .
I had wanted to have a button on a slide which a user could click to print
the file.
Any ideas on how would I do this?

You can't run a VBA macro if the presentation is running in the Viewer,
and this would be needed to have a button to print the slideshow.
However, in the Viewer, you can hit ctrl-P at any time to print the
presentation.

Thanks David for your reply - but that doesn't work either!

I am using POwerpoint 2000 and the Viewer version 97.

I guess that I'll just have to investigate using something other than
Powerpoint.

I don't have the 97 Viewer on my machine, but I am fairly sure that it
allows you to print. At least, that's what Microsoft claims:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=7C404E8E-5513-
46C4-AA4F-058A84A37DF1&displaylang=EN

Of course, that page doesn't give you the keystroke (which I thought was
ctrl-P), but if you press Help or F1 while in the Viewer, you should get
a list of available keystrokes, including the correct one for printing.
