how do I convert a pp2003 file to pp97 w/o it exploding in size?

I want to convert a file from Powerpoint 2003 to Powerpoint 97 so that a
client on Office 97 can see it. The thing is, the file size grows from app.
5MB in '03 to 90+MB in '97, making the file too large to upload. Is there
anything that I can do to shrink the size of the file without affecting the
content? If not, how can I shrink the file size and how will the file content
be affected?

Thanks!

Frank,

The good news is that a powerpoint 2003 file should just 'open' on
powerpoint 97 without you saving it as any other filetype other than you
would normally save the file. Any features that are used in ppt 03 will be
ignored by 97

When you save as the all encompassing (ppt 95/97/2000 etc), then because it
includes the really, really, really old (11+ years) powerpoint version 95
(which has no file compression), then the file is huge massive big BIG.
