How do I create or import vector artwork for Word?

When I try to import artwork from Illustrator it converts it to a low-res
preview and prints that preview. How can I create a logo or artwork that is
sharp? I have tried pasting the paths from illustrator directly into Word and
it gives me a sharp edge but the paths look terrible, nothing like the
original.
