How do I create Page 1 of X style page numbers?

I wish to create page numbers that automatically update themselves in this
format:
Page 1 of X (i.e. a 10 page document would say Page 1 of 10, Page 2 of 10,
etc).

Can this be done in Publisher automatically?

Go to the master page, type *page* before the # and *of 10* after the #.

The most direct way is to put "Page # of 10" on the footer in the master
page. You would be responsible for changing the footer if the page count
changed. While there are ways to get the total page count to update itself, I
would question the usefulness of that since so many instances there would be
pages that you didn't want to count (like the inside and outside covers,
appendixes, indexes, introductions, etc.) Unlike Word, Publisher does not
automatically add pages so this shouldn't be a big issue.

Yes I already have that in my footer on the master page. What I was hoping
for was a global variable which would automate the page count total (say
something like Page x of y).
This is a simple document I'm creating so I don't have to worry about
excluding pages from the count.
If it can be done I'ld be interested to learn how to do it. If not I'll just
do it manually as suggested above.
Thanks all.
